Missing Matter Mystery (partially) solved!

Great news for Science! Astronomers have made a huge advance in our understanding of the Universe, by finding 'lost matter'. This discovery is paramount in not only supporting the hypothesis (of additional matter being available to find); but, also by expanding our field of understanding. This discovery is supported by the Big Bang Theory and the hypothesized amount of matter distributed by the initial expansion/i.e. big bang. The problem is that our estimates of all galaxies collectively considered, only barely make a dent in what scientists believe was dispersed. This 'missing matter' is what has now been (1/2) found.

Quantum Mechanics & General Relativity

So, I've been reading about Quantum Gravity (a convergence of both Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity) and it inspired me to learn more about Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity and though I had a gist of the two; I wanted to take the time to look at the fundamentals as opposed to my generalist understanding of each.

The Small ~ Quantum Mechanics
A theory initiated in order to better explain the fundamental properties of matter. In early 1900's while studying the interactions of matter and radiation; scientists ran into an issue. Neither Classical Mechanics nor Electromagnetism solved certain radiation effects on atoms. Particularly, scientists were perplexed by the nature of light; as was discovered by Joseph von Fraunhofer (1787-1826) through analyzing peculiar lines in the spectrum of sunlight. These lines were recorded as existing; but, no one could explain their origination. Same such occurrences were seen through radiation experiments with atoms.

Did You Know - That the human body emits more heat per square inch than the sun at equal proportions

Dr. Michio Kaku, a favorite of mine of the Science channel, stated this fact during a show; A show about the creation of Hydogen and Helium and the Big Bang theory as it was proven by way of reminiscent radiation or 'static' that could only be caused by an initial explosion~ by a radio wave telescope in the late 1980's.

Quasars, primordial black holes and this question - Why is there a black hole at the center of a universe??

Obviously, there is no singular definitive answer to this question (that I know anyway.) I am not a space bot that can travel in time to find the source. But, amazing theorists have ideas; and I, being a pursuer of shaking my own ignorance - read what they have to say.

I started my exploration tonight with an article on MSN about a flare out of the center of our galaxy, the Milky Way. The article discusses how X-rays are expelled from the center of our galaxy, and a group of Japanese scientists have analyzed clouds of this dispersing residue in order to conclude the timing in which our galaxy did this last (presumably to theorize about if and when it will happen again as well as to understand it's origin.)

Lagrangian Points ~ Parking Lots in Space!

There are (5) Lagrangian Points in the Earth & Sun system. Lagrangian Points (also known as Lagrange Points) exist within allocations of space between two bodies of mass and their respective gravitational influence. So, the Earth/Sun system includes the area that the Sun effects with it's gravitational pull on the Earth as well as the Earths area of gravitational effect. Another... If you draw a circle around the Sun including the Earth within it; drew another circle around the Earth as far out as the effect on Mass exists and then converged the two with a third all encompassing circle- that is the system.

The two masses interaction and influence over one another, effect all additional objects that occupy any space within the final circle. As with general relatively and space curvature, all objects orbit if influenced to do so. So, within this system of massive influences on things in orbit; opposing orbits and lines of three interacting orbits exist. When two masses encounter a third as an interference to the balance of the two; both of the massive objects relinquish force, as they are in perfect balance, over the third object. As such, the object is not pulled in an orbit because there is no definitive superior force either way and it will stay 'parked' within this location.

Mars Electromagnetic Field

Interesting article on MSN News (title linked) about a theory explaining the demise of Mars electromagnetic field (i.e. an electromagnetic field, as is charged by the core of an active planet, protects the surface from harmful solar wind particles~ without the protection, organic life is near impossible.) The theory says that a bombardment of massive asteroids was so destructive (by the act of pushing so much energy through the planet) that it affected the planet's core in such a manner that it was never able to recover its electromagnetic field.

Hadron Collider & Higgs Boson (God Particle)

So, it's October… The Hadron Colider was up for only a few days in early September prior to having an issue with one of the magnets that caused the shut down. As this was an unbelievably complex/large mechanical, electronic and magnetic machine created for a purpose that has not yet been successful at this level: issues were not unexpected. But, now we hear that it will not be up and running until next year.

Can I wait a year to find out about the creation of microscopic black holes , extra dimensions , super symmetric particles and dark matter? Well, of course. And, I am sure it will be just as exciting and wonderful when it does begin producing (hopefully) the many answers we are looking for. Besides, I don't think the questions are going anywhere in the interim.

Of all the possible discoveries (or up close and personal experiences such as the microscopic black holes) There is something that is generating the most anticipation~ the 'God Particle' or Higgs Boson. The Higgs Boson is proposed as the missing link within particle physics that will hopefully help explain the ability of massless particles to become particles with mass. Hence the 'God Particle' as it the link between massless and mass (and you need mass for life.) Hmm.. You say. Well, if a particle is massless; something must affect it in order for a change to occur in order to make the particle portray a mass. This missing (hypothetical) massive scalar elementary particle would hopefully answer this question. It may also allow us to visualize the particle. As an important component of particle physics, its discovery would lead to many new understandings (as well as new and exciting questions of course) that will expand our knowledge of the material world.

For example, it will assist in our understanding of why particles such as quarks and electrons have varying amounts of mass.

The Higgs Boson Theory is that a large collection of particles, like a field, exist all over and cause particles to be restricted in their movement; particles passing through this field are affected in different manners. Some particle's zip right through, with little resistance and in turn little mass. Yet others are caught up in the resistance and are slowed and infringed in their passing through, leading to a larger recognizable mass.
